HUNTERS HILL - Note change of times

Redmen,
Stop the press - updated times for Saturday:
4's - 11:25am - Boronia No 1
3's - 12:20pm - Boronia No 1
5's - 1:00pm  - Boronia No 2
Colt's - 1:25pm - Boronia No 1
2's - 2:40pm - Boronia No 1

Short and sharp:
After a tight battle against KNOX at the weekend, we walked away with 1 loss, 2 draws and 3 wins. All in all a good day for the Redmen against one of my most spirited competitors. Big shout out to the undefeated Nuts and Bolts who notched up their 6 straight win in a top of the table clash. Well done lads.
Moving forward we are at Boronia Park against Hunters Hill this weekend.
The Royal at Paddo will be hosting drinks for the Reddies on Saturday night with donations going to an injured players fund. Should be another cracker of a night. Last time I was there a certain second rower known for his turn of speed jumped up on the bar, popped the champagne, sprayed the crowd, smashed the bottle and staged dived into some adoring (read groping) fans. Let’s hope we can see that again!
That’s all for now Reddies. I’ll see your ugly mugs at training this evening and/or wiping the floor with HH on Saturday.
Yours in Red,
Birdman
P.S. for your viewing pleasure…... Which ones the redneck?

Captains Report - Barker

Redmen,
Two words: Red Rinse. F*ck yeah. You bewty. Well done. Thanks Barker…
Now let me drop some numbers on you…
Club Championship points: 628
Position on the Club Championship table: 3rd
Points scored by Redmen on Saturday: 171
Points scored against Redmen on Saturday: 69
Kegs on the bar for the RED RINSE: 3
If you’re not a numbers man I’ll break it down for you: we’re off to a great start in 2012. Now let’s not get ahead of ourselves, it’s only round 5, Mosman and Barker are not title contenders, but the potential is there. The effort is there. The belief is there. Let’s bring it all together.
The Reddies had a dream run against Barker on Saturday. 5s got up in a tight one. The Nuts and Bolts kept Barker to nil. 4s continued their perfect start. 3s got a well deserved win. 2s nearly notched up a half tonne and 1s fought out a tough win despite being down to 13 men at one stage. It was pleasing to watch, albeit a bit touch and go at some stages, but the boys got the job done and we left Turramurra with the points.
Now for the dot points (insert night rider theme music):
  • Who am I? Which Redman woke up in the bed of last night’s fling late on Saturday morning in the eastern suburbs, without a lift to the game, running late for his game and managed to convince said fling to drive him all the way to Turramurra, watch his game, and then drive him all the way home to Bondi... She sounds like a keeper.
  • Thursday 17th May: Our mates at Carbon Trade Exchange are putting on a club night at the Forbes Hotel (cnr King and York) on Thursday 17th May to launch their sponsorship with the club. This night is open to all past and present players, supporters and friends of OIRFC. Drinks and nibbles provided. Get there.
  • Boat Cruise! It’s on a boat. Saturday 26th May. Fellas put your leave passes in now. Shenanigans will ensue. More details to be released soon.
  • Australia vs Wales: OIRFC have purchase 60 tickets at $49 a pop for the test on 23rd June at the SFS (i.e. not out at farking Homebush). Register your interest with Baz at training. It will be a first in best dressed policy – money talks boys! Pay your subs at the same time if you haven’t done so already.
  • Where will we be Thursday May 10/17/24? The Crowie (OIRFC sponsor) is hosting Miss North Shore Pole Princess. You’ve probably already stopped ready this and have found the flyer below. I will stop talking now.
See you at training.

Yours in red,

Birdman

Captain's Report

Redmen,

Congratulations on a great score card from Saturday – taking home the bacon in 5 from 6 games against Mosman is a great result. It was particularly pleasing for Aspro to get one over his former friend and mentor Chuckie ‘Crazy Eyes’ Riordan in the Juddernaughts BP win – Chuckie if you’re still on this mailing list I sincerely hope you feel despondent…

Moving on - this weekend we’re up against Barker Old Boys at Turramurra Oval. Please note the game time changes below:

1st Grade: 3:15pm

2nd Grade: 2:00pm

3rd Grade: 12:55pm

4th Grade: 12:00pm

Nuts and Bolts: 10:45am

5th Grade: 9:55am

Boys we haven’t had training in 2 weeks due to some bad weather and Anzac day so make sure you get down to Ryde International tonight in preparation for Saturday. The club is putting on a BBQ and beers tonight after training for a gold coin donation – or “Goldie for a Coldie” for the jingle inspired. Stick around for 15 minutes and have a feed and a few beers with your mates. There’s no better way to beat hump day.A few other points to remember:

Boxing is back on at North Sydney PCYC Monday nights from 7:30pm – ask any of the regulars they will attest that 3 mins in the ring with Shero is the most gruelling training session going around. We have the room to ourselves, it’s free and it will get you shredded for stereo. I don’t know how I could sell this any better.

Subs are going up to $250 so if you haven’t paid up yet you’d better do it ASAP. You are not covered for insurance unless you are registered and financial. Baker will have the eftpos machine at training tonight so bring your cash, bank card, mum’s bank card or cheque made out to cash. The club merchandise can be purchased at any time so let us know if you want a sweet hoodie for $30.

If you read this email make sure you get your mates down to training tonight. I can’t stress this enough.
I think that’s all for now. Stay tuned for announcements tonight at training.

See you at 6:30pm.

Bird
