Football Operations - Mark (Baz) Richards
· Final positioning of all teams for season 2011
· (1st – 9th, 2nds – 5th, 3rds – 6th, 4ths – 6th, 5ths – 5th, Colts – 3rd)
· Overall 7th of Club Championships
· Over solid performances considering the lack of numbers and the amount of injured players. With some extra commitment to the 3rds and 4ths pushing higher grades the results could have been a lot better. Numbers at training were a real issues and something the club needs to consider moving forward.
· Season 2012 under way
· Baz to organise with Michael Palmer to fix the physio tent – parts available
· Building Durability to sponsor with 25 match balls with club logo on balls
· Jersey numbers look ok Adam Rixon to chase up Harlequin Hotel for a 5th grade set
· Laing O’Rourke to pay for clothing kit as sponsorship
· Club to organise 5th grade refs to ensure games go ahead at home games
· Coaches and some managers locked away for season 2012

Financial Comments to support P&L
· Lost of NLG ( National Leisure and Gaming sponsorship (Royal Hotel at Ryde)
· Gala Day – lost a large amount of money setting up and day didn’t go ahead. Need to review how we did it and try again when club numbers increase.
· New sponsors onboard for 2012 (Woolloomooloo Hotel, Crows Nest Hotel, Good Guys Artarmon, Mates for Life with Corporate box sponsorship from Waratahs, Equitimax for Ladies day)
· Subs for 2012 need to improve – season 2001 was poor. Needs suns early – incentive in place to ensure early payment and discount can be achieved
· There are other sponsors in which Adam Rixon is still working on.
· The club would also like to thank all the sponsors for season 2011 and we hope you are all back onboard for another season.

Administration
· Insurance costs have been received and need to paid
· Registration forms need to be handed out and followed up
· 2 trails booked for preseason
· Debit from Presidents lunch 2011 – payment plan in place to eliminate
· Requested to Subbies to play colts at a different time at all home games
· Have to increase subs but have incentive in place if paid early
· Robert Ward and Gerard Hogan to work hard on ensure supports club is up to speed and that there money is collected and that season 2012 supporters club day is a massive turn out.

Recruitment
· Need the young players to recruit there mates playing elsewhere
· Ryde Oval, for training oval, still being used as an excuse not to play OIRFC
· Front rowers needed
· Not paying any players to play OIRFC
· Major focus on recruitment as there are still quality players that are yet to make up there mind about grade or subbies.
· Chris Galvin, James and Dave Parmentier working extremely hard on securing some new young blood to the club.
· GE has also presented a play to recruit locally via local signs even if it is to strengthen the lower grades.

Closing Notes

Season 2012 will be another challenging year for the OIRFC for various reasons. One of the most obvious reasons is that of the payment of cash to players within selected clubs. In my opinion this has split the competition into 2 categories and will continue to destroy suburban rugby in the years ahead.

Other key elements for our club in 2012 will be the lack of players in key positions, which for us is the front row. It’s a very important message that the club needs to distribute to our greater community, so that we can encourage players to return to play with OIRFC.

Players that have finished playing grade and still have that 2 or 3 years left in them, whereby they can come back and play with school mates and make new friends / contacts and finish their playing days in suburban rugby. Suburban Rugby was build upon players being able to play good rugby without the major commitment of grade and higher level rugby.

Play because you love the game and the mates you make.

Yours in Rugby
Greg Easy
